Aim Awards 2000
This article is about the recent AIM Awards held at Putra World Trade Center. This time around , it showed improvements as compared to last year, because there was a slight change from the typical lineup of aritistes that performed. So here are my rants and raves regarding the event and before we go any further, i would like to stress out that one man's meat is another man's poison,so don't flame me if my opinion differs from yours!.

  • Siti Nurhaliza? -- Thankfully, it's not another Siti year (YEAH!!!!!) ,because Sheila Majid managed to perform an incredible feat, that is,beating the heavyweight(Siti of course!), in terms of awards. Before all the Siti fans starts to flame me,let me point out something first.Im not condemming her,i agree that she is an extremely talented babe, can carry her songs well,effortlessly....as compared to others such as Ziana Zain who transforms to a female bodybuilder when she carries out a number (just look at her neck when she sings, all her vains pops out!) and at the same time.....she still remains a down to earth person. Oh yeah, i almost forgot, she's cute too : ) . But it bores me to see her winning all the awards, all THE TIME!.

  • Poetic Ammo’ performance -- They were kewl.....! There was all the bells and whistles needed for a good performance such as explosions and backup dancers and good harmony with the band members. One of the dancers could even walk around using his head!.So kudos to them, not forgetting thier ala 'Matrix" style!(you know, sunglasses, designer suits and dresses and nicely choreographed fight scenes). But one thing sucked... the botak (bald)member who was hanging in mid air, it was a nice touch firstly.....but after a while, it got irritating! simply because he kept going around with the same friggin move!.Their "Who Be The Player" video was kewl, and i feel that they deserved every bit of the award.

  • Shawn on the Best New Artiste award -- Just the sight of him pisses me off !.Malaysia's Ricky Martin eh ?. No way!!....He can't even dance well.......Futhermore, his dance moves are rather limited, therefore he kept on repeating the same dance steps.(Which sucked). And his vocals is like shit!.The award should've gone to Dayang ‘Da Voice’ , Nurfaizah because during her performance, she had the audience eating out of her hand with her power-packed tremulous vocals.

  • Best Local English Album -- The one that I hate the most!.Why did the fucking judges chose Juliet The Orange over the others? Lo was the rightfull winner, because Lo's Day's Without Dawn offers a combination of strong statements, good melody, arrangement , a nice cover :) and high quality production but as fate has it, Lo's "accessibility" is not as strong as Juliet The Orange's artistically-correct effort. Also, you can see the way the crowd responded and cheered when he was performing as compared to Juliet The Orange, which wasn’t that popular with the crowd!.Futhermore , just look at his reaction when the result for his category was announced, instead of sulking and being a sore loser , he immediately congratulated the two bitches. Now that’s what I call a true winner!. Jason Jonathan Lo,you the man!. And to make matters worse , he also lost to the same two bitches in the Best New Local English Artiste category Basically ,it was a double slap for him!.

And if it wasn't Lo, Butterfingers' Transcendence, the other substantial heavy weight, could have wrestled the award from everybody else. Then again, knowing the fucked-up judges......

So to sum it up, the bone of contention after the whole affair was whether the nominees were fairly judged by the voters (AIMM) and the AIM jury. I seriously think the academy should increase its membership and include more people who represent the real industry for future judging if we want more satisfactory results. (Such as the fucking Juliet The Orange winning both the where as Lo deserved it more!)

Basically , we got some fucked-up judges here!.
